Stepping outside your comfort zone

Henry Ford famously said “If you always do what you have always done, then you will always get what you have always got!”

If you are going to get something different then that means doing things differently and stepping out of your comfort zone. It doesn’t need to be a big step but things need to change.

Many of the PYP social media posts get lots of views but little interaction from a likes and comments perspective, thank you to those that do. We are fine with that as we get contacted regularly by people who want to work with us and have been “watching” what we are pushing out.

We know it is uncomfortable for people to communicate that they might be looking to secure a new opportunity, want to do better either as an individual or a business and just feel they are capable of more. We all limit ourselves by what others might think. If you have ever sent someone a picture of some shoes or clothes you want to buy asking for their opinion, then you know what I mean!

The PYP team is now very comfortable in front of an audience, but weren’t the first time, in the same way as pressing post on your first Linkedin article required a deep breath before communicating your views to what you know is a judging world. Now it feels like we are chatting to whoever wants to listen.

These are all steps outside your comfort zone. Trust me, presenting in front of a camera, building a website, writing a CV, sitting in an interview or selling your value to clients and saying positive things about yourself are all things that can take you out of your comfort zone.

You know you can do it, because you have already done it. It is therefore only you holding you back.
If you have ever changed your hairstyle, I did many years back!, asked someone on a date or told them you loved them and had to face the potential of rejection then you have been out of your comfort zone and guess what you survived. It might have been painful but the pain of regret can be far worse!

You may not get the job, the deal, the top line growth or even the partner of your dreams but you definitely won’t unless you try.

Remember, what Woulda, shoulda, coulda are the last words of.
